Welcome to Middle School Social Studies!

Hi everyone!  My name is Sonja Woessner, and this is my fourth year teaching at CCS and my first year in Middle School!  This is also the beginning of year seventeen in the classroom.  I was a stay-at-home mom until my son started kindergarten here at CCS.  I LOVE teaching!  It is my calling and my passion!

I am originally from Upstate New York but moved to Goldsboro, NC when I was almost four years old. I am a "Southern-Fried Yankee" through and through!  I moved to Wilson County after marrying my husband, Chris, in 2014.  We have one son, Gabriel, who is entering third grade this year and a goldendoodle named Oreo.

I graduated from East Carolina University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education K-6 with a Concentration in Reading K-12.  I taught five years in the Wayne County Public Schools.  I was a First Grade Instructional Assistant for a little over eight years in Wayne County prior to getting my teaching degree.  While I was an instructional assistant, I taught children with autism and other disabilities for seven years at a six-week summer camp that took place in Goldsboro.  Before getting into the public school system, I directed a day care for three years and worked at Toby's Hallmark (Goldsboro) for twelve years before that.  Working with children has been in my blood since I was a young girl.  As a pre-teen, I worked in the church nursery, taught Sunday School as well as Children's Church.  I was part of my church's Puppet Ministry working at Vacation Bible Schools in several area churches. Teaching is truly a calling and now that I teach in a Christian school, I can share the love of Jesus more freely with my students!  I look forward to getting to know you and your children this school year.

In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths."
