NEW BERN – A first half that saw just 10 points total by girls basketball teams from Community Christian and New Bern Christian turned into the Cylone show in the second as CCS ran away to a 32-9 victory.
The Cyclones, who outscored New Bern Christian 18-1 in the third quarter, improved to 12-5 overall and 7-1 in Mid-Atlantic Christian Athletic Association games. CCS will visit Southside Christian in Clayton next Friday, Feb. 9, to play the varsity edition.
“We were trailing New Bern Christian 6-4 after one half, and I challenged the girls at halftime to play harder, and to go out with confidence that they were the better team,” said CCS head coach Carl Bradshaw. “They stepped their defensive pressure up, and our shots started to fall.”
Ava Dunn had nine points to lead CCS, adding six steals and three rebounds, while Autumn Bradshaw totaled seven points, six assists and four rebounds.
