Host Community Christian pulled away in the third quarter and held off visiting New Bern Christian 64-47 in a battle of the Mid-Atlantic Christian Athletic Association 2-A contenders on Friday night.
The Cyclones, who led 24-20, at the half posted their 19th straight victory to improve to 20-1 overall and 8-0 in MACAA 2-A South play.
Evan Gattis dropped in 21 points to go with five assists to spark the Cyclones, who got 19 points and seven rebounds from Jack Beamon and 11 points, five rebounds and four assists from Jared Kovach. Chason Bryant added six points and five rebounds.
The Mustangs (16-8, 4-2) were led by K.C. Peter’s 13 points and six rebounds.
The Cyclones step out of MACAA play Thursday, Feb. 8, when they visit New Life Christian in Rocky Mount.
