Jared Kovach helped his Community Christian School varsity boys basketball team win two more games last week, making him this week’s Farris & Thomas Law Student-Athlete of the Week.
Jared, a junior guard, scored six points and dished out a pair of assists as the Cyclones defeated visiting Hobgood Charter 68-54 on Thursday then led the team with 21 points to go with four steals, three rebounds and two assists in Friday’s 91-60 blowout win at Gramercy Christian.
For the season, Jared is averaging 12.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.5 steals per game in helping the Cyclones win 16 out of their 17 games so far.
The son of Melissa and Jim Kovach of Sims, Jared has a 4.1 GPA at CCS, where he takes three Honors courses as well as three dual-enrollment classes through Wilson Community College. He is also a member of the Future Farmers of America chapter at Community Christian.
Jared is active at Milbournie Free Will Baptist Church, especially its Upward Basketball program in which he coaches a 4th-6th grade team and operates the scoreboard.
He has been playing AAU basketball for the Knightdale Hustle for seven years.
