Freshman Evan Gattis was a main cog for his Community Christian School varsity boys basketball team in its first three games of the season last week, making him this week’s Farris & Thomas Law Student-Athlete of the Week.
Evan dropped in 16 points to go with three assists as the Cyclones tipped off their season Tuesday, Nov. 14, with a 74-31 defeat of Christ Covenant at Peace Church. He added eight points and five assists as CCS wrapped up the tournament with a 55-24 conquest of Father Capodanno on Saturday at Cape Fear Christian.
The son of Lynn and Randy Gattis of Wilson, Evan has a 3.7 GPA at Community Christian, where he also belongs to the Angler’s Club.
Evan volunteers his time frequently at his church, Milbournie Free Will Baptist Church, in Wilson and also helps out his grandfather around the house.
He plays travel basketball for Team Trezz of Rocky Mount and also for Carolina Swarm of Wilson. Evan spends much of his free time working out and training, doing three sessions a day throughout the summer.
