A three-goal deficit for Community Christian in the first half of Friday’s varsity boys soccer home game against Gramercy Christian proved to not be too big of an obstacle for the Cyclones, who rallied for a 6-5 victory.
CCS, now 4-2 overall, evened their Mid-Atlantic Christian School Association 2-A mark to 2-2.
It wasn’t pretty early for the Cyclones, who struggled to connect passes and spent time watching the ball instead of getting into position. CCS managed a goal just before halftime, then picked up the offensive pace for five second-half goals and the win.
Ethan Barnes led CCS with three goals while Carlos Ventura, Abner Martinez and Hector Guzman each had a goal and an assist. Connor Ferguson passed out a pair of assists while goalkeeper Josh Varnell made two saves.
The Cyclones will host Faith Christian on Goldsboro in another MACAA game Tuesday, Sept. 19.
