ELIZABETH CITY — Community Christian continued to steam toward no worse than a North Region runner-up finish in girls soccer in the inaugural year of the Mid-Atlantic Christian Athletic Association.
The Cyclones, who battled first-place Christ Covenant to a 1-1 draw Monday, had no problem scoring goals Tuesday in a 9-1 rout of host Victory Christian. That pushed Community Christian’s overall record to 12-2-2 while improving to 5-1-1 in region affairs. CCS will conclude the regular season Friday against Suffolk Christian in Virginia.
Five different players scored for the Cyclones on Tuesday with four netting two goals each.
“The scoring was very balanced tonight, and the girls played very unselfish soccer,” CCS head coach Carl Bradshaw wrote in an email. “We moved girls around in different positions, every player saw many minutes of game action, and the girls really worked to get their teammates involved.”
Autumn Bradshaw, Aspen Evans, Ava Dunn and Faith Jones each scored twice while senior Abigail Jackson had a goal and an assist. Gabrielle Borg also collected an assist.
Taylor Ricks made one save in goal.
