Cyclones hammer Suffolk Christian 7-0

After back-to-back shutout losses last week, the Community Christian School varsity girls soccer team wrapped up this week with the its second straight one-sided win as the Cyclones clobbered visiting Suffolk (Virginia) Christian 7-0 on Friday.

That win pushed CCS to 7-2-1 overall and 4-1 in Mid-Atlantic Christian Athletic Association play, solidifying the Cyclones at No. 2 in the MACAA North Region. The Knights (2-4, 2-2) remained in third place.

“I told the girls after the game that tonight was their best overall soccer game of the year,” CCS head coach Carl Bradshaw said. “We were very unselfish, we built up from the back well, and we played lock down defense for the entire game. The most rewarding part of the game was the fact that we had seven different girls who scored.”

Putting the ball in the net for the Cyclones were senior Abigail Jackson, sophomore Olivia Carter, eighth graders Katelyn Brown and Tate Misback and seventh graders Autumn Bradshaw, Ava Dunn and Barrett Godwin. Bradshaw, Dunn, Carter and Misback each generated an assist.

The Cyclones will host Sallie B. Howard, which tied CCS 3-3 on March 16, on Monday before resuming MACAA play Tuesday at Gramercy Christian in Newport. After those games, Community Christian will be off for spring break until April 17.
