The Community Christian School baseball team used a sharp first two innings to come up with a 7-6, season-opening win over visiting Hobgood Charter on Tuesday.
The Cyclones built a 6-0 lead through two innings, and tacked on an insurance run in the bottom of the fourth to make it 7-2. That run would prove critical, as the Generals (0-1) plated four runs in the top of the fifth.
The Cyclones’ Evan Barnhill, Rylan Gay and Luke Jones drove in two runs apiece, with Gay crossing home twice himself.
Noah Pierce nabbed the win on the mound, tossing two no-hit innings while striking out five and walking one.
The Cyclones will host New Life Academy on Tuesday, March 14.
