GOLDSBORO — Defense was the ticket for the Community Christian junior varsity girls basketball team in a 22-16 triumph Tuesday at Faith Christian
Autumn Bradshaw and Claire Carter inflicted the majority of the damage with eight and seven points each, respectively. Carter added four rebounds and four steals while Bradshaw came up with three steals. The pair combined to go 7 of 10 at the foul line in the fourth quarter to help preserve the win.
“I was very pleased with our team’s defense as we transitioned from a 2-3 (zone) to a 1-3-1 to a full-court press,” CCS head coach Carl Bradshaw said. “I told the girls after the game that our defense and the pressure we applied to their guard play won us the game.”
The Cyclones hit the road again Wednesday to play at Christ Covenant in Winterville.
