The Community Christian School girls basketball team picked up a key North Carolina Christian Athletic Association victory over visiting New Bern Christian at Eastern North Carolina School for the Deaf on Thursday evening, topping the Mustangs 21-18.
The Cyclones improved to 7-6 overall and 5-1 in NCCAA play as they avenged a road loss to the Mustangs from two weeks ago.
“I was really proud of the defensive effort by the girls,” said CCS head coach Carl Bradshaw.
Mary Abigail Lewin led CCS with seven points and three rebounds, followed by Claire Carter with six points and nine rebounds.
The Cyclones will visit Pamlico Christian on Friday.
Cyclones roll over Mustangs
The Community Christian School boys basketball team stayed hot with a 48-25 victory over New Bern Christian at Eastern North Carolina School for the Deaf on Thursday evening.
Evan Gattis led the Cyclones with 20 points, followed by Jamir Loftin with 12 points. Jack Beamon posted a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds.
The Cyclones will visit Pamlico Christian on Friday.
