Late rally falls short for CCS girls

After falling behind early in Tuesday’s home game against Southside Christian, the Community Christian girls basketball team rallied behind Libby Bass and Lauren Carter to tie the score with less than two minutes to play. However, Southside had the final word, scoring a basket in the final minute to pull out a 16-14 victory.

Carter had two big 3-pointers, one at the end of the first half and another to tie the game at 14-all, to finish with six points while Bass also netted six points. Ella Taylor made a pair of key steals in the Cyclones’ fourth-quarter comeback after trailing by seven through three periods.

CCS will play Thursday at 4 p.m. at Bethel Christian in Kinston.
