The season’s first victory continued to elude the Community Christian varsity girls basketball team in a 35-28 home loss Tuesday at the Peace Church gym.
The Cyclones, now 0-3, were in it the whole game, trailing just 16-13 at the half, but couldn’t close the gap in the second half.
Senior Abigail Jackson led CCS with nine points to go with seven rebounds, two steals and an assist while sophomore Aiyana Holmes supplied eight points, 10 rebounds and three steals. Sophomore Olivia Carter added six points and three steals.
Jenna Kate Pope’s nine points led the Warriors (1-3).
The Cyclones are off until Tuesday, Dec. 6, when they host Faith Christian of Goldsboro at Peace Church.
