Tavares Williams helped his Community Christian School varsity boys basketball team get off to a winning start last week, making him this week’s Farris & Thomas Law Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week.
He posted a double-double of 23 points and 11 rebounds as the Cyclones defeated DASH 66-48 on Monday and then helped CCS down ENCSD 56-25 on Tuesday. For the season, he is averaging 16.2 points and 4.2 rebounds per game in sparking the Cyclones to victory in four of their first five games.
The son of Demeka Williams of Wilson and Frederick Williams of Washington, D.C., Tavares has a 3.81 GPA while also taking dual-enrollment courses through Wilson Community College.
He is a member of the school’s chapter of Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Tavares also played football for the Cyclones this season.
He plays for the Carolina Swarm AAU basketball team from Wilson and is active at Kairos Church Ministries in Wilson. In his free time, Tavares enjoys spending time with his family.
