JACKSONVILLE — The girls and boys basketball teams from Community Christian posted convincing victories Monday night at Jacksonville Christian. The Cyclone girls won 24-6 while the boys rolled to a 60-12 triumph.
Claire Carter led the CCS girls with nine points, three steals and two rebounds while Ava Dunn added four rebounds and four steals. The Cyclones, now 1-1 overall, were playing their Mid-Atlantic Christian Athletic Association opener. Evan Gattis banged in four 3-pointers on his way to a team-high 19 points for the Cyclone boys. Gattis added two steals. Tyler Spivey drained a trio of treys as he scored 11 points while Jamir Loftin had 11 points, three assists and two steals. Jack Beamon contributed 10 points and six rebounds.
Both CCS teams are back in action Tuesday at home against Lawrence Academy in Williamson Gym on the ENCSD campus.
