JV girls basketball comes up short in opener

Community Christian came up just short, 23-21, in its girls basketball opener Tuesday, losing to DASH at the Peace Church gym.

Autumn Bradshaw scored 13 points to lead the Cyclones while Mary Abigail Lewin contributed 10 rebounds, nine steals and two points.

“I was very proud of our girls as our team is comprised of one ninth grader, five eighth graders and five seventh graders, and DASH is composed of varsity, JV, and middle school girls playing on their team,” said CCS head coach Carl Bradshaw. “The girls fought hard and they played until the final buzzer ,which is what the coaching staff asked out of the girls. We learned a lot tonight and we look forward to moving forward with our season.”

Community Christian will visit Jacksonville Christian on Monday at 4 p.m. to start Mid-Atlantic Christian Athletic Association play.
